On 18 January, KIK launched a call for applications to support companies in the installation of renewable energy storage and to boost the development of the energy storage market. The call has a budget of €4.8 million and applications will be accepted until the budget is exhausted or until 30 April 2024.
Support will be granted for the design and construction of an energy storage installation for heat or electricity produced from renewable energy sources and for related activities. Estonian companies that own a renewable energy production unit and are not prohibited by law from owning or operating an energy storage facility can apply for support.
The budget of the call is €4 827 783, including up to €2 640 000 for the installation of thermal energy storage and up to €2 187 783 for the installation of electricity storage. The maximum amount of the grant per megawatt of energy storage capacity is EUR 360 000 net of VAT for electricity and EUR 220 000 net of VAT for every 1000 cubic metres of heat storage capacity.
Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be accepted until the budget for the call is exhausted or until 30 April 2024 at 17:00.
The grant money comes from the Restoration and Resilience Facility and was developed by the Ministry of Climate Change together with the Environmental Investment Centre.
